Smeg UK are proud to be CEDA silver partners for 2014

Last April CEDA (Catering Equipment Distribution Association) gathered together the high profile and prolific in the world of commercial appliances for their annual conference at St. George’s Park hotel in Burton.

The park, which is the famous training ground of the England football team, hosted the conference as well as a fundraising event in the evening in aid of Hospitality Action. Hospitality Action, a charity specifically set up to help those who work in the hospitality industry who are experiencing serious issues in their lives, such as terminal illness, poverty and bereavement.

Smeg, always keen to get involved with a good cause, decided to give a fabulous FAB28 St. George fridge, to the hotel in return for a generous donation to the charity. All in all the vast mix of distributors and manufactures managed to raise just over £6000 for the cause, which will go on to drastically improve the lives of many. The St George FAB Fridge will stand pride of place in the newly refurbished team dining area, which is frequently used by the England team, as well as the Women’s team and the Under 21’s. We think it will need to be full to the brim in preparation for the final few months of training before the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

CEDA chairman, Jack Sharkey, said: “I’m proud to say the CEDA Conference 2014 demonstrated the association’s own ‘winning edges’ in a number of ways from, the quality of speakers including DC Thompson chairman Ellis Watson and England rugby union legend Will Greenwood MBE to the practical business savvy presentations in the interactive seminar programme. Our venue was excellent with St George’s Park steeped in the legends of England’s football teams from past to present, and really first-class facilities.”
